How can the book form be pushed and made interactive?
Book of Mentors
Editorial, Fall 2019
Much of RISD is structured after the Bauhaus and the teachings of El Lissitzky. In this project, I looked to bring together Lissitzky’s ideas with work made by fellow peers and friends at RISD, most of whom, had just graduated.
The book is structured with eight pages of rules from Lissitzky’s Topography of Typography. The book itself showcases Lissitzky’s work while each page serves as a sleeve, containing the contemporary work of my peers, seemingly inspired by what Lissitzky had said. Lissitzky’s work is shown in black and white, while the new ideas, contemporary work his words have inspired, are in color and peek out from the cut-out shapes.
